Election Day is Saturday--

Please Vote!

While our city was still in her infancy, I committed to our people that I would work hard toward forming a safe, stable, and economically competitive city.

Through the efforts of the good people of Central and the work of our elected officials, we have come a long way toward accomplishing these goals, but I know that the job is not finished. Much like my marriage of 43 years, I made a commitment to you the people, and I’m not backing away from that commitment now. I feel that one more term in office is necessary to set the course of this great city on sound footing. Therefore, I have announced my candidacy for Councilman, City of Central, and humbly ask for your prayers and support.

You have my promise to “continue the course.” Please Join the Journey.”

Sincerely,
Louis DeJohn
Councilman, City of Central

From Idea to City

It’s uncanny how quickly our landscape can change.  Less than 5 years ago Central was a community locked up in the northern part of East Baton Rouge Parish, speaking loud and seldom heard.  But through the vision and dedication of a small group of concerned citizens, what seemed to be only a dream is now a reality.   A closely knit community has now become an even closer city.  I commend this group for their courage to believe, and thank them for allowing me to be a part of their effort to incorporate the “City of Central.”  I also recognize that as far as we’ve already come to better our area, we still have a long journey ahead.  Leadership brought us here and that same type of leadership is necessary if we are to soon reap the benefits that they envisioned.

Primary Tasks

  • A budget that works (20% surplus)
  • An independent School System
  • Work closely with city services to assure they are responsive to our citizens
  • Work with our community to develop a master plan
  • Work toward widening Sullivan and Hooper
  • Devote the time necessary to assure we leave our community in better shape than when we started
  • Oppose raising or imposing new taxes for city government

Statement of Feb. 24

"Four years ago I promised you that I would work as hard as I could to build a strong foundation for the City of Central. In a very short time, we have come a very long way.

As a member of the Central City Council I have fought for the fiscal discipline that has resulted in a million-dollar surplus. While so many towns and cities are raising taxes, Central is living within its means while still meeting our citizens' needs.

There is much more left to do and I humbly ask for your vote on Saturday, March 27. Together, we can continue to grow in the positive, family-friendly manner that we've come to expect here in Central."
